About Normalise Psychology

Chris began his working career as a boilermaker and welder, working across a range of trade and labouring roles before commencing university to study psychology. He completed a Bachelor of Psychological Science with First Class Honours before undertaking a Master of Clinical Psychology.

This background continues to inform a practical, grounded, and down-to-earth approach to psychological work. Chris values clear communication, genuine human connection, and providing support that is both evidence-based and relevant to the realities of everyday life.

Throughout his training and professional experience, Chris has worked with people across a range of settings and life circumstances, including those experiencing substance use difficulties, complex trauma, relationship challenges, and significant life transitions. These experiences reinforced the understanding that many emotional and behavioural difficulties are not signs of personal deficiency, but understandable responses to life experiences, environments, and attempts to cope with adversity.

Chris also has a particular interest in cognitive and neurodevelopmental assessment. He values assessment as a collaborative process that helps individuals and families better understand patterns of strengths, challenges, learning, attention, and development, providing clarity that can support informed decision-making and effective support.

Support is offered in a way that is respectful, practical, and realistic, Welcoming people as they are, while creating space for reflection, learning, and growth.

Approach

Work at Normalise Psychology is grounded in evidence-based practice and adapted to the individual.

Assessment work is collaborative, with a focus on understanding patterns, identifying strengths, and providing practical recommendations that can be applied in everyday environments such as home and school.

As the practice develops, this same approach will extend to therapeutic work with individuals and families.

Cognitive & Neurodevelopmental Assessments

Cognitive and neurodevelopmental assessments are offered with a focus on clarity, care, and practical usefulness. Assessment work is collaborative and discussed clearly prior to commencement, including scope, time requirements, and fees.

Assessments are designed to help make sense of cognitive, learning, attentional, emotional, or developmental profiles, with attention to both strengths and areas of difficulty. Findings are considered within the context of a person’s history, environment, and daily functioning, and are communicated clearly to support understanding and informed decision-making.

Practice Values

Normalise Psychology aims to provide a space that is:

  • Welcoming, accepting and respectful.

  • Grounded in evidence and ethical practice.

  • Attentive to context, development, and lived experience.

  • Focused on skill and capacity-building.
